Why I built CupTracker
Every year, our group does a Ryder Cup-style golf trip. And every year, my buddy who organizes it would spend hours before the trip filling out scorecards, setting up the draft, figuring out handicap strokes for every matchup. All before anyone even hit a ball.
On the course, it was worse. He'd be doing math between shots while the rest of us were playing golf. Nobody knew the team score unless they texted him directly. By dinner, half the table was arguing about who got strokes on what hole.
I knew there had to be a better way, so I tried every golf scoring app I could find. Some were built for stroke play only. Others were clunky or couldn't handle real Ryder Cup formats. Match play, best ball, alternate shot, skins, all in the same event. Nothing did the job.
So I built it. CupTracker handles the setup, the scoring, the handicaps, and the leaderboard automatically. My buddy finally gets to play golf instead of running a spreadsheet, and spend his time making the trip even better instead of managing it. Everyone follows along live from their phone. And the trip actually feels like the Ryder Cup.
At the end of the day, I built this for my friends. They're the reason the trip exists and I wanted to give them something that made it even better.
If you've ever organized a tournament and thought “there has to be a better way”... this is it.
