# CupTracker

> Other apps do everything. CupTracker does Ryder Cup tournaments right.

CupTracker is built exclusively for Ryder Cup style golf tournaments and buddy trips — every feature is designed around team formats, not bolted on from a generic scoring app. It handles team assignments, match play scoring, live leaderboards, automatic handicap strokes, skins, and year-over-year player rankings so groups can run a real tournament without spreadsheets.

CupTracker is available on iOS and Android. Events can range from 4 to 48 players. A full tournament can be set up from a phone in under 15 minutes. Anyone can follow a live event via a view-only web link — no app or account required.

## Formats

CupTracker supports the following team golf formats. All formats are 2v2 (two players per side) except Singles. Formats can be mixed across rounds — for example, best ball on day one and singles on the final day.

- **Best Ball (4-Ball)** (2v2): Each player plays their own ball. The team's score on each hole is the lower of the two partners' scores.
- **Alternate Shot (Foursomes)** (2v2): Partners share one ball, taking alternating shots until the hole is complete.
- **Scramble** (2v2): All players tee off, the best drive is selected, and all players play from that spot. Repeated until holed.
- **Shamble** (2v2): All players tee off, the best drive is selected, then each player plays their own ball from that spot for the rest of the hole.
- **Team Total** (2v2): All player scores on each hole are added together for the team score.
- **Singles** (1v1): One player from each team. The only format that is not 2v2.

- **Flexible point values**: Set how many points each round is worth and whether to weight them — make the final day singles round count for more.
- **Team snapshots**: Complete team stats and standings throughout the event.
- **Share with a simple link**: Spectators can follow live via a view-only web link. No app or account required.
- **No account required for players**: Players join with an access code and score from their phone without signing up.

## How it works

1. The organizer creates an event, enters the course and tee information, and adds each player's USGA handicap index.
2. Players are assigned to two teams.
3. Matchups are set for each round, or captains decide day-of.
4. During play, anyone with editor access enters scores hole-by-hole. The leaderboard and match results update live for everyone.
5. Anyone — including non-players — can follow the event via a view-only web link. No account or app required.
6. Past events are saved for year-over-year history.

The event organizer purchases the event. Once purchased, all players can access and score it at no additional cost. No account required for players so they can join with an access code and easily keep score.
